TRAINS TO KESWICK tells the story of English Lakeland’s best-loved railway in its last years of operation. Taking a nostalgic trip by diesel multiple unit from Penrith to Keswick and back, it also documents the last day of operation of the line: Saturday, 4th March, 1972.

With informative recollections from signalman Sid Ridley of Penruddock, farmer’s wife Jessie Titterington of Highgate Close, gangers John Tyson of Threlkeld and Bill Hodgson of Keswick, together with porter Ted Watson,  once a familiar figure to passengers travelling through Troutbeck.

TRAINS TO KESWICK takes a scenic and sentimental journey along tracks that are now long-vanished.

Narrated by ALLAN CARTNER.

Running Time 36 minutes.

Some Sense from the Video.

This video was created from cine-film taken in 1971 & 1972 before and after the line was closed. The final scenes depict a very sad and sorry sight as Keswick Station’s island platform is being demolished, and the track around Penruddock cut up for removal.
